Forbes magazine has released its list of the world’s most powerful women for 2023. Fortunately, 4 Indian women have been placed in it.
Forbes has listed the top 100 women in politics, media, finance, and business who are making a big impact in their fields. This year’s list features 4 people from India namely Nirmala Sitharaman, Roshini Nadar Malhotra, Soma Mandal and Kiran Majumdar Shah.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is ranked 32nd in this list. Nirmala Sitharaman was the Defense Minister from 2017-2019. He has been the Union Finance Minister since 2019. After former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Nirmala Sitharaman is the second woman to hold the charge of Defense Minister and Finance Minister. Nirmala Sitharaman was ranked 36th in the 2022 Forbes list. He is ranked 32nd this year.
Roshni Nadar malhotra, CEO of HCL Technologies, is ranked 60th. Roshni, 42, is Shivnadar’s only daughter. She holds the distinction of being the first woman to head an Indian IT company.
Steel Authority of India Chairman Soma Mandal is at 70th position. Appointed Chairman of Steel Authority of India in 2021. It is noteworthy that Soma Mandal was the first woman to be appointed as the Chairman of the company. Kiran Majumdarsha, founder of pharmaceutical company Biocon, is at number 76. He is also the chairman of IIM Bangalore.
