Meta sued former Vice President
The parent company of Facebook and WhatsApp, Meta, has sued former vice president Dipinder Singh Khurana for purloining private documents. Allegedly, the records included private information regarding Meta’s personnel and business practices.
Accused of breaching contract
According to the sources, Khurana is accused of breaching his contract and acting in a “brazenly disloyal” manner in the case, which was filed on February 29 in a state court in California.
Before quitting Meta, Khurana, a 12-year employee, is accused of uploading a “trove of proprietary, susceptible, confidential, and non-public documents about Meta’s business and employees” to his personal Dropbox and Google Drive accounts, according to the lawsuit. According to reports, these records contain details about non-public business contracts as well as employee performance and compensation.
Khurana’s actions are denounced by Meta, who claims they show a flagrant disdain for his legal and contractual responsibilities.
A representative for Meta stated that the company is dedicated to protecting employee and corporate secrets, suggesting that Meta is taking the misbehavior very seriously.
The legal action taken against Khurana is part of a larger movement by big digital companies to defend their intellectual property rights.
This event comes after Linwei Ding, a Google engineer, was charged earlier this month for allegedly taking more than 500 private files from the firm that contained trade secrets related to artificial intelligence.
