Google account: Users are using Google’s various sites and apps including YouTube, Google Photos, Google Maps, Calendar, Google Slides, and Google Sheets by logging into Google Accounts using Google’s G-mail email address.
In this context, Google made an important announcement last May. According to Google’s updated user accounts policy, Google announced that accounts that have not been used for more than 2 years will be permanently deleted.
According to Google, accounts that are not in use, inactive, and Google accounts that are not used by users or have forgotten their password, are likely to be mishandled, including cybercrime crimes. Following this, the company said that these accounts would be permanently deleted for security reasons.
This action will start from December 1st, so Google users have been advised to enter the details including password in their accounts by the end of this week and use it.
Also, Google is sending a warning message to the email address and recovery email address of users who have unused accounts.
Things users need to do:
What should users do to ensure that their information stored on Google’s various platforms, including Google Drive, Google Docs, and Gmail, is safe?
First, users who want to avoid having their Google Account permanently deleted need to use their Account at least once every 2 years.
Also, after entering their Account, users can confirm that their Account is active by doing things like using Google Search, reading emails, and watching videos on YouTube.
Apart from this, you have to make a separate entry to use the Google Photos site. Otherwise there is a risk of permanent deletion of images from Google Photos site. To avoid this, you should also use the Google Photos site from time to time.
Which Google Accounts will be deleted?
According to Google, although personal Google accounts that are inactive, unused by users or have forgotten their password are deleted for security reasons, accounts created by organizations such as schools, organizations, and accounts with YouTube videos will not be deleted.
Google has also advised users to provide alternate email address details in their accounts.
What to do with Google Account data?
With ‘Inactive Account Manager’, users are given the facility to decide what to do with their unused Account and its data and transfer its data to other Google Accounts. It also allows users to completely delete their Google Account if they wish.
