On February 25, Gujarat’s Okha-Bet Dwarka Signature Bridge will be officially opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Okha-Bet Dwarka iconic bridge in Dwarka, Gujarat, is scheduled to be opened by the Indian Prime Minister on Sunday, February 25.
The 2.75-kilometer Okha-Bet Dwarka signature bridge links the island of Bet Dwarka, which is now only reachable by boat, with the coastal settlement of Okha.
The bridge’s construction was kicked off by the Center in 2017 with a groundbreaking ceremony with the goal of making it easier for devotees to travel between Okha and Bet Dwarka. Before it was built, the only way for pilgrims to go to the Dwarkadhish Temple in Beyt, Dwarka, was by boat.
The 2.5 km Signature Bridge, which cost Rs 978 crore, has an unusual design.
On both sides of the walkway are pictures of Lord Krishna and lines from the Bhagavad Gita. In addition, it is the longest cable-stayed bridge in India.
One megawatt of electricity is produced by solar panels that are mounted on the upper sections of the walkway.
The opening is much anticipated by the local population and pilgrims as it is expected to bring about a substantial enhancement in accessibility to sacred Beyt Dwarka.
Another traveler emphasized the useful advantages, stating, “Those who cannot afford boat cruises will have an efficient and sustainable option in the bridge.” Locals will be able to travel more easily, especially at night when they frequently encounter difficulties on their commutes.
It is anticipated that the Signature Bridge’s opening will usher in a new era of accessibility and interconnectedness, enhancing the spiritual experiences of pilgrims who visit the Dwarkadhish Temple.
