Imtiaz Ali on Ranbir Kapoor
Recently, Imtiaz Ali, the celebrated director recognized for his moving tales and captivating characters, explored his partnership with actor Ranbir Kapoor on the most recent episode of The Bombay Dream with Mukesh Chhabra. Together, Rockstar and Tamasha have created some of the most cherished Bollywood flicks.
When the director thought back to their initial meeting, he remembered a special occasion at a five-star restaurant where he saw a young Ranbir Kapoor with his late father, Rishi Kapoor. Ranbir nervously fell out of his chair, but Imtiaz remembered his teenage excitement and how it left a lasting impression on the filmmaker.
Statement on Ranbir
“I saw Ranbir for the first time at a five-star restaurant. He was there with his father Rishi Kapoor,” the filmmaker remarked.
“He had floppy hair, was extremely little, and hadn’t grown up yet. I had recently arrived in Mumbai. I will never forget that I witnessed Ranbir becoming agitated and toppling over the chair.”
Imtiaz Ali went on to say that Ranbir Kapoor’s passion for performing is independent of the “perfect script.”
Ranbir Kapoor with Imtiaz Ali
Ranbir Kapoor made his feature film debut under the direction of Imtiaz Ali in the 2011 movie Rockstar, where he portrayed Jordan, also known as Janardhan. In actuality, Ranbir told the story in the first narration ever between the actor and the filmmaker.
Ranbir brought up the Rockstar topic while they were talking about another story that Imtiaz was working on.
He said, “Sir, there is a story of yours that I heard about from a friend,” according to Imtiaz. At the moment, you wished to succeed with John (Abraham). This is the narrative. In actuality, he told me the story, which is how the movie was narrated. I was thinking to myself, “If this guy does this film, it would be so nice,” as he was saying all of this. “Do you like this?” I asked him. Do you feel up to it?
After that, Imtiaz developed the habit of talking to Ranbir about every draft and update he thought of because the actor was genuinely interested.
Netflix will begin streaming Imtiaz Ali’s Amar Singh Chamkila on April 12; the film stars Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra.
