All states are watching. It has been going on for a long time. If there are many schemes for students being implemented in various states today like nutrition scheme, free bicycle scheme, free uniform scheme, free laptop scheme, it is the way shown by Tamil Nadu. Now, in that line, the breakfast scheme, the brainchild of Chief Minister M.K.Stalin, has been added.
One day, Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, who was inspecting a school in Chennai, saw that some of the students were tired and asked, “Why are you tired? Did you eat in the morning?” When asked, some students replied “No” and some students said “Let’s eat the lunch provided in the school”, he was upset. As a result, he came up with a
scheme to provide morning snacks to students studying from class 1 to class 5 in government schools.
Now breakfast is provided to 17 lakh students studying in 31 thousand 8 schools. A budget of Rs.500 crore has been allocated for this purpose. This revolutionary scheme has attracted the attention of all the states. Several states have inquired about the functioning of the scheme. In particular, a team of Telangana state government officials came to Tamil Nadu to study the project and visited many schools and submitted a report to the government.
As a result, Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao launched a scheme to provide breakfast to students studying in class 1 to class 10 in Telangana state as well. According to this, breakfast is now being served in 28,000 government schools in the state at a cost of Rs.400 crores. 23 lakh students come to school and eat breakfast every day through this scheme. As far as the type of snacks is concerned, it is prepared to offer different food every day just like Tamil Nadu.
In Telangana, which is due to go to polls in the next few days, the scheme is expected to be a major boost for the ruling party. Like this project implemented in the education sector, many projects are also implemented in the public welfare sector.
60 medical officers from Gujarat state came to see the activities of these projects and medical structures in Tamil Nadu. They visited Pannoku Hospitals, Kalayan Centenary High Specialty Hospital and Primary Health Centers in various places like Chennai, Tambaram, Poontamalli etc. They appreciated Tamil Nadu’s excellent medical facilities. All in all, the breakfast program for school students and medical programs being implemented in Tamil Nadu are not only pioneer programs for many states but also add pride to Tamil Nadu.
