According to the sources, ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’, which had nine nominations going into the evening, along with Bradley Cooper’s ‘Maestro’, which had seven, and ‘Barbie’, starring Greta Gerwig, the greatest box office hit of 2023, were all completely shut out. The Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie film received five nominations.
BAFTA receives Criticism
The 2024 British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) is facing backlash for, among other things, passing over the late Matthew Perry, star of F.R.I.E.N.D.S., during its “In Memoriam” part, which angered his admirers. Barbie received five nominations.
Barbie’s exclusion from the Oscar nominees has been a subject of debate for several weeks, but Matthew, who played Chandler Bing in the American comedy, received a moving tribute during the 2023 Emmy Awards’ In Memoriam segment, which moved many people to tears. Charlie Puth and the singer-songwriter team The War and Treaty covered The Rembrandts’ I’ll Be There for You, which is the theme song for F.R.I.E.N.D.S. October 2023 marked the passing of Matthew, 54.
Deepika Padukone at BAFTA 2024
Actor Jonathan Glazer for “The Zone of Interest” received the Best Film not in the English Language award from Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone at the ceremony.
Deepika looked stunning in a shimmering saree with gold and silver hues and an all-over sequin blouse with strappy sleeves. She wore a messy hairdo, bold earrings, and radiant makeup with kohl-rimmed eyes. Deepika recently posted on social media, captioning her story from the BAFTA ceremony with the word “Gratitude.” She conveyed her appreciation for having to accept the invitation to give the awards.
RDJ speech at BAFTA
Robert Downey Jr. won the Best Supporting Actor BAFTA Award 2024 for his role in Christopher Nolan’s masterpiece Oppenheimer.
During his acceptance speech, RDJ, who is well-known for his endearing character, shared light of his 12-year stint as Tony in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And then, just now, that guy Chris Nolan advised that, in a desperate bid to save my waning reputation, I try a more subdued approach.
Prior to it, he declared, “I wanted to be Peter O’Toole when I was fifteen. I worked for Anthony Hopkins and Richard Attenborough when I was twenty-five. I finally realized why Dickie believed Tony would make a better role model for me than Peter when I was 35 years old. I worked for Guy Ritchie on two movies when I was forty-two, and that’s how I learned how to build large Hollywood pictures with polite British fare’. In addition, Robert Downey Jr. expressed gratitude to Universal WME, his co-star Cillian Murphy, his wife Susan, the cast and crew of the movie, and the “British influence.”
