Zuckerberg’s wealth has increased by $42.4 billion so far in 2024, pushing him up to the fourth spot on Bloomberg’s Billionaire Index.
According to Markets, he has now surpassed Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft, who fell to fifth place. Zuckerberg is currently valued at $170 billion.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, the majority of Zuckerberg’s wealth comes from a roughly 13% investment in Meta Platforms, the former Facebook, as well as regulatory filings and the company’s 2023 proxy statement.
Zuckerberg is also expected to get about $174 million in cash when Meta pays out its first dividend in March. Owning over 350 million Class A and B shares, all of which are dividend-eligible, Zuckerberg could make more than $690 million a year assuming Meta continues to pay out its 50-cent quarterly dividend.
20 years of Facebook
This feat comes on the occasion when Facebook has turned 20.
Through his WhatsApp Channels, Mark Zuckerberg was also observed celebrating Facebook’s 20th anniversary.
In a video he uploaded, he can be seen blowing out the candles on cakes shaped like the number 20. On Instagram, he also posted a collage of his voyage. Facebook’s history from its inception as a college social media platform was compiled in the post.
One video, which was set to Aerosmith’s “Dream On”, began with a picture of a teenage Mark Zuckerberg working from his Harvard University dorm room and included other images from different phases of Facebook’s development. “When we first launched, our goal was to have 400 or 500 participants. We’ve reached 100,000 individuals now,” a youthful Zuckerberg remarked in a vintage interview. “Who knows where we’re going next.”
