Chhattisgarh state assembly 2023 :
Vishnu Deo Sai: BJP has named the Chief Ministerial candidate after the recently held elections, ending the much fuelled suspense.
On November 7 and 17, two-phase elections were held for the 90 seats in the state assembly of Chhattisgarh. In this election, the national parties, Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress fought hard.
The election results were announced on December 3. In this, the BJP got 46.27 percent of the votes cast and won 54 seats and got the right to form the government.
Only the election manifesto and the achievements of the ruling BJP at the center were campaigned by the BJP in the election. But it is noteworthy that the name of the chief ministerial candidate was not announced at that time.
After the party’s landslide victory in the results announced last week, there was much speculation about the chief ministerial candidate.
A meeting of 54 MLAs was held today in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. In this former BJP 59-year-old Vishnu Deo Sai, close to Chief Minister Raman Singh and a member of the BJP’s National Working Committee, was elected Chief Minister.
Vishnu Deo Sai’s Political background:
Sai entered politics with interest in 1990.
Vishnu , who took charge of BJP’s Chhattisgarh state chief in 2006, has a long political experience.
In the November 2023 election, Sai won the Kunkuri constituency in Chhattisgarh with 87,604 votes, about 25,000 more votes than the Congress candidate.
It is worth noting that in the central cabinet of BJP, where Modi was sworn in as the Prime Minister in 2014, Sai held the position of joint minister of Eku department.
Thus, it is yet to be seen how the new Chief Minister takes on the challenges facing his state.
