After wrapping for Don 3, actor Ranveer Singh has been roped in to play the role of ‘Shaktimaan’, according to the report of Pinkvilla on Friday. The actor will play the nominal role in Basil Joseph’s directorial film that goes on the floor in 2025 but is eyeing to release in 2026.
About Ranveer Singh’s Shaktimaan
Produced by Sony Pictures, and Mukesh Khanna, who played the original Shaktimaan. The film will be shot in Hindi and dubbed into other languages. But, the plot of the film is yet to be disclosed, however, it is expected to be a faithful adaption of the original television series, which holds the story of a young man who is blessed with superpowers after being struck by lightning.
Further, Ranveer Singh is the only confirmed cast member so far. But there are rumours that the big-name actors may be attached to the project, with a reported budget of Rs 200 cr scheduled to release in 2026.

The significance of upcoming Shaktimaan is a culturally significant character originally from a 1990s TV series and holds immense cultural significance in India. And the first-ever Indian superhero with its own mythology and moral compass, appealing to audiences across generations.
Moreover, Ranveer Singh, who’s known for his versatility and dedication to his roles is a huge fan of the Shaktimaan character, and he said that he is ‘honoured’ to be playing the role by bringing the character to life on a big screen, which will be a contribution towards diversifying film narratives and inspiring young audiences.

According to the media reports, Ranveer Singh recently wrapped up ‘Don 3’ which is set to release in 2025, along with ‘Simmba 2’, and ‘Shaktimaan’ in 2026. However, this year, Karan Johar’s historical drama ‘Takht’ which will feature Ranveer Singh will be released on August 24, ‘Baiju Bawra’ on September 10, and ‘Andaz Apna Apna 2’ on October 7, alongside Kartik Aaryan in the shoes of the original leads.
