Mr. and Mrs. Mahi trailer creates hype amid the IPL season
The trailer for “Mr. and Mrs. Mahi” -Rajkumar Rao and Jahnvi Kapoor’s upcoming film took the internet by storm upon its release yesterday. Despite the name of the film, it is not about Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MSD) and his wife Sakshi.
Instead, “Mr. and Mrs. Mahi” tells the story of the newly married couple Mahendra (Rajkumar Rao) and Mahima (Jahnvi Kapoor) as they set out to pursue their forgotten dream of playing cricket. The visuals of the duo encased in the trailer and official poster of the film promised a fresh narrative filled with romance and cricket.
The trailer begins with the couple meeting for the first time ahead of their arranged marriage. Mahendra plays the role of an aspiring cricketer who dreams to play for the national team but never receives his break, whereas Mahima plays the role of a doctor. Mahendra’s father, played by Kumud Mishra, owns a sports goods shop but doesn’t support his son in his passion for cricket.
Apart from the commonality of their names, the newlywed couple soon discovers each other’s fervent passion for cricket. Having failed in achieving his dreams of being a national cricket player, Mahendra decides to coach Mahima, hoping that her wins will bring him his long-awaited recognition.

But later Mahima starts questioning Mahendra’s reasons for encouraging her to play cricket, unsure whether her husband wants her to play cricket or is just using her for his own unachieved dreams.

Film Director Sharan Sharma commended actress Jahnvi Kapoor’s preparation for the role.
The actress underwent intense training regimens over the past six months in preparation for the role of a cricketer. In addition to cricket, Jahnvi also learned about the mannerisms of a cricketer, enabling her to play her role spot-on.

Mr. and Mrs. Mahi is set to be Rajkumar Rao and Jahnvi Kapoor’s fourth film together. The duo had previously appeared in Dhadak (2018), Roohi (2021), and Mili (2023). Rao has a proven track record of comedy-centric drama films, and with the promising visuals of the upcoming Bollywood sports drama, audiences are eagerly waiting for the film’s release on silver screens across the country.
Rajkumar Rao’s recently released biographical film “Srikanth” on the life of visually impaired industrialist and the founder of Bollant Industries, Srikanth Bolla, won the hearts of Indian audiences since its release three days ago.
