The Titanic, considered to be the world’s most famous ship to date, crashed into an iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean on April 11, 1912. Around 1,500 people are said to have died in this tragedy. 111 years after the incident, research and submarine tours of the Titanic continue to this day.
Also, even today there is interest among the people to know the information related to the ship. In this case, Len Stephenson from Nova Scotia, Canada, who traveled on the Titanic, died in 2017. When his belongings were searched, they found the Titanic’s first class dinner menu.
The menu included sumptuous dishes such as Oysters, Squab a la Godard, Spring Lamb, Tournedo of the likes of JJ Astor, Benjamin Guggenheim, Sir Cosmo Duff-Gordon, Molly Brown and others. Beef a la Victoria (Tournedo of Beef a la Victoria), Mallard Duck, Apricots Bourdaloue have been mentioned. The dinner menu has been confirmed by auction house Henry Aldridge & Son Ltd.The auction house’s Andrew Aldridge said: “The menu available is a previously unrecorded menu for first class passengers on board the Titanic. No one, including his family, knew that the late Len Stephenson owned it. After his death, both his daughter and son-in-law tested his possessions. Then they found this menu from an old photo album. At this stage, Titanic’s first class dinner menu is going to be auctioned for 60,000 pounds (Rs. 61,18,260 in Indian value).
