On Saturday, a team from the Delhi police crime branch visited the official residence of the chief minister and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal to serve the notice over his poaching claim. Earlier, the police team visited his and AAP leader Atishi’s house to serve the notice on the claim that the BJP tried to poach AAP’s MLAs.
Delhi police serve the notice
The Delhi police crime branch team has visited Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s official residence to serve a notice in connection with his allegations that the BJP offered bribes of Rs 25 cr each to the seven AAP MLAs to destabilize the party’s governance in Delhi.
Moreover, the Delhi police indicated that when the team visited Kejriwal and AAP leader Atishi’s residence on Friday to deliver the notice, both the leaders were not present in their house which made the team visit again. However, the BJP denied all these accusations made by Kejriwal.
BJP on Kejriwal’s claim on MLA poaching
The BJP has strongly denied all the allegations of attempting to poach AAP MLA, calling them baseless and politically motivated. The BJP leaders claim that Kejriwal is making these claims out of ‘desperation’ and to divert attention from his own government’s shortcomings.
Further, other leaders of the party accused Kejriwal of trying to ‘implicate’ the BJP in a non-existent scandal to gain sympathy, questioning the timing of accusations and suggesting it was a ploy to deflect from the controversies. Following this, the BJP filed a police complaint against Kejriwal.
Complaint against Kejriwal
The BJP has filed a police complaint against Kejriwal, accusing him of making false and defamatory statements regarding their alleged attempt to poach AAP MLAs. They are demanding legal action against the chief minister.
However, both sides, AAP and BJP, have strong political motivations for their respective stance. So, based on the nature of the complaint and evidence gathered legal action could range from defamation charges to more serious offenses like criminal conspiracy. However, the AAP leader defends himself on this.
Kejriwal defends himself on his claim
Kejriwal has vehemently denied the BJP’s claim by reiterating his belief in the validity of the poaching attempt. He accused the BJP is trying to stifle his voice and suppress the truth about their alleged wrongdoings. Furthermore, he even shared recordings as evidence of the poaching attempt and urged law enforcement agencies to investigate properly. Besides, he even used social media platforms, where he explained his claim thoroughly.
Possible Outcome
The outcome depends on the investigation’s findings, legal and investigation process. Both sides could suffer politically, with public perceptions swayed away by media narratives and the ongoing malicious allegations against each other.
