As the price of rice, the staple food of the people of India is increasing day by day and is experiencing double-digit inflation, the central government has embarked on an effort to control the price of rice
It is reported that the central government is considering the introduction of affordable rice under the name of ‘Bharat Rice’ in order to control the rising prices of essential food items in the country. In that way, the price of Indian rice is expected to be Rs.25 per kg.
Rs.25 per KG:
The National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (Nafed), National Cooperative Consumers Federation (NCCF) and Kendriya Bandar outlets have announced that rice will be sold at Rs 25 per kg.
Bharat Atta (wheat flour) is already being sold at a discounted price of Rs.27.50 per kg and Bharat Dal (pulses) at Rs.60 per kg. It is reported that Bharat rice will be sold in the same manner. It will be sold through the government’s National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation (NAFED), National Cooperative Consumers Federation India Limited (NCCF), Kendriya Bhandar outlets, and mobile vans.
It is said that the government is going to bring ‘Bharat rice’ due to the fact that the average price of rice in India has increased many times compared to last year. The government is taking various measures to stabilize the prices of essential food items. In that respect, the export of non-Basmati rice has been banned.
The central government had already sold wheat flour and pulses under the Bharat rice brand at very low prices with a plan to reduce food inflation.
Food prices rose by 10.27% in November, while food inflation stood at 8.70% in November, as against 6.61% in the previous month. The decision to sell rice at Rs 25 per kg has been taken to address the basic problem of the people ahead of the 2024 general elections as food inflation affects the overall financial condition of consumers.
The Food Corporation of India (FCI) is trying to curb the price hike by increasing the volume of wheat going to the foreign market through online auctions. Ahead of the 2024 general elections, the government has realized that high food inflation will be a problem and has taken the right decision.
