Amul has released a cartoon titled ‘Goodbye Captain…’ as a tribute to the late actor and chairman of the DMDK Vijayakanth.
DMDK leader Vijayakanth passed away on December 28 at 6.10 am due to ill health. His death has shocked the whole of Tamil Nadu. Many people have come to Chennai in person and are paying tearful tributes. Many people like political leaders, film celebrities, fans, and DMDK volunteers have come to pay their tearful tributes to him.
Vijayakanth’s body is being taken in a procession from the thivuthedal to Koyambedu Cremation will be held at the DMDK office in Koyambedu. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin has announced that his body will be cremated with full state honors with 72 bombs.

Meanwhile, Amul has released a hilarious cartoon. Many are sharing the cartoon where the Amul girl says ‘Goodbye Captain’. A post on the company’s social media page read, “Tribute to the most beloved Tamil actor – political leader”.
An actor-cum-leader
Narayanasamy became Vijayakanth… – Name given by parents ‘Narayanasamy’. It was his grandfather’s name. He named himself ‘Vijay Raj’. That is why he was popularly known as ‘VG’ among his friends in Madurai. Only a few of his relatives called him Narayanasamy till the end.

Acting, Vijayakanth who grew up to be the leader of the actor’s union started the party in 2005 and grew to become an MLA and leader of the opposition. Vijayakanth, who was celebrated as Captain by movie fans till then, was called Captain Vijayakanth by all the DMDK activists after his political entry. Until 2016, Vijayakanth, who was a fan of AIADMK, BJP, and Modi, stayed away from public life due to ill health. Although he kept in touch with the party through reports and executives, his political career was paralyzed by his failing health in the following years. Since then Premalatha, Sudish, and Shanmugapandiyan have been leading the party as his representatives.

It has been 7 years since he left active politics and 8 years since he got rid of cinema. However, the depth of the condolence for him after his death on 28 dec , the number of people thronging and the amount of tears shed confirm Rajinikanth’s condolence. “The living is Kodi, the deceased is Kodi. Who is on people’s minds? Vijayakanth etc. Long live the name of Vijayakanth” As Rajinikanth said, his name will live on.
