A conference of all state Director Generals of Police ( DGP ) and Heads of Police (IG) will begin in Rajasthan on Friday (Jan 5).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the three-day conference at the Rajasthan International Center in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, on Saturday (Jan.6) and Sunday (Jan.7), his office said. Issues related to police and internal security are to be discussed in detail.
As the Lok Sabha polls approach, implementation of new criminal laws, activities of pro-Khalistan groups, terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, Naxal militancy, and inter-state police coordination are the main topics to be discussed.
Key agendas of the conference:
In this regard, the press release issued by the Prime Minister’s Office said, ‘Internet crimes, police technology, prison reforms, etc. will be discussed. A key feature of the conference will be deliberations on the implementation of the new criminal laws.
The challenges posed by artificial intelligence, deepfakes, and ways to deal with them will be discussed and views and ideas will be shared with the Prime Minister.
Best practices followed by States and Union Territories will be presented at the conference under each theme. This will enable states to learn from each other and share best practices.
Since 2014, Prime Minister Modi has been showing a lot of interest in the conference of DGP and IGP. He has been encouraging the organization of this conference, which was mostly held in Delhi, and in different places of the country, and he regularly participates in all important sessions and listens to opinions.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Union Ministers of Home Affairs, Union Cabinet Secretary, senior officials of the Central Government, DGP ‘s of states and Union Territories, and heads of the Central Armed Police Force and Central Police Organizations are participating in this year’s conference.
