Prime Minister Narendra Modi has agreed to inaugurate the first traditional Hindu temple in West Asia, the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The inauguration ceremony is scheduled for February 14, 2024. He received this invitation from Swami Brahmaviharidas and Swami Ishwarcharandas along with the board of directors of the temple.

PM Modi accepted the invitations and expressed his constant support for the Hindu community in the UAE, which is a sign of a growing relationship between the two nations, as it’s a historic step towards interfaith harmony in the region.

About the BAPS Temple in Abu Dhabi
The BAPS Hindu temple of UAE is a traditional place of worship for Hindus and is being built by Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS).
The construction of the temple began in 2019 and now it is near completion. The temple is being built on 55,000 square meters of land in the Abu Dhabi Al Mureikha area. And, the structures of the temple are made with hand-carved stones. It will have nine shrines dedicated to different Hindu deities, a library, a cultural centre and a community hall. It is expected to become the major pilgrimage site for Hindus living across the world.
