Aaron Taylor-Johnson as James Bond
After years of guesswork, according to British tabloid The Sun, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, a former child actor best known for his roles in big-budget films, has reportedly received a formal offer to replace Daniel Craig as the renowned British spy James Bond.
Producer on the statement
Producer of the James Bond film, EON Productions, declined to comment on the report; nevertheless, this is standard practice for the Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli-led company.
EON wouldn’t have much time for anything else if its days were spent responding to rumours about who is set to take Daniel Craig’s place as 007, as a wise source within the company noted to Deadline.
Although they did not directly refute the article, which is one of the most popular topics on X (previously Twitter) in the UK and the US, this person advised us against reading The Sun story this morning.
It is certain that Aaron Taylor-Johnson did not take many steps to distance himself from Bond rumors as recently as last week.
Side Note
Since Craig announced in 2019 that the spy’s last film will be 2021’s “No Time to Die,” there has been conjecture over who might play Bond after him. Since tabloid reports indicated he met with Broccoli to consider the job, Aaron Taylor-Johnson has had the best chances to play the part. Previously, it was believed that actors Henry Cavill, who was most known for playing Superman in the DC Extended Universe movies, and Regé Jean-Page, who starred in “Bridgerton,” were also contenders.
Henry Cavill, star of Superman and Mission: Impossible, is currently one of the favorites to portray Bond; he was rumored to be a contender before Craig was chosen.
In 2020, he expressed to GQ that he “would love to play Bond, it would be very, very exciting”.
James Norton, who recently performed in the stage version of A Little Life and was a member of the cast of the 2019 movie Little Women, is another favorite among the bookmakers.
The 38-year-old actor has acted in several brutal television dramas, such as Happy Valley and McMafia.
He denied rumors in 2018 that he may replace James Bond, telling the Evening Standard that “speculation is inevitable.” However, that’s all it is: conjecture. Very humble and flattering assumption.”
Naturally, though, a lot may happen in six years.
