Happy Gilmore 2
According to Christopher McDonald, who portrayed Shooter McGavin in the beloved movie Happy Gilmore, a sequel is “in the works” after he chatted with Adam Sandler.
The film, which tells the tale of Happy Gilmore’s unusual path from ice hockey hopeful to golf champion, was first produced back in 1996 but quickly gained popularity among golf enthusiasts. The movie’s character Gilmore, portrayed by Sandler, recently had a meeting with McDonald and produced a script for the next installment.
Fans could be surprised by this because the sequel might be released thirty years after the original movie opens in theaters. However, the rumors have already been met with a resoundingly positive reception, which validates their choice to produce a follow-up movie as fans lend their support.
Statement on Adam Sandler
“I saw Adam [Sandler] about two weeks ago, and he says to me, ‘McDonald, you’re gonna love this,'” In a radio interview with Audacy’s 92.3 The Fan, McDonald stated. “I asked, ‘What?'” “How about that?” he asks, pulling out the first draft of “Happy Gilmore 2.”
Given that Sandler and his production firm, Happy Madison Productions, have a long-standing agreement with Netflix, reports indicate that the film is most likely affiliated with the streaming service. Netflix has not yet addressed these rumors, though. Happy Gilmore, one of Adam Sandler’s most recognizable movies, was helmed by Dennis Dugan and has since become a cult favorite. Happy Madison Productions, the name of Sandler’s production firm, even makes reference to Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison, another well-known movie of his.
Casts of the movie
Other well-known figures that show up are Carl Weathers, who died only a month ago, Julia Bowen, Kevin Nealon, and Ben Stiller. Numerous appearances are included in the film as well; the most noteworthy being an appearance by the late Bob Barker, the presenter of The Price Is Right, who also died away last year.
If development on Gilmore 2 proceeds, it’s still too early to know when and where we’ll be able to watch it. While we wait, don’t forget to peruse our list of Sandler’s greatest movies, where we (spoiler alert) placed Gilmore at the top.
