On Friday, the Sultan of Oman, Haitham Bin Tarik arrived in New Delhi on a three-day visit to India. High-level officials and Ministers accompanied the Sultan.
Today, the Sultan was received by President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Modi at the Rashtrapati Bhawan for a welcome ceremony. The first state visit of the Sultan to India will be marked as a vital milestone in diplomatic relations. He will also hold bilateral discussions with PM Modi.
The External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar stated that the visit will enhance the diplomatic relationship between Oman and India.
“Honoured to call on His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik of Oman as he begins his state visit. Value his guidance for further deepening of our Strategic Partnership,” said Jaishankar.
Purpose of Oman’s Sultan visit to India
The visit aims to strengthen the strategic partnership between Oman and India, established in 2008. It will focus on areas like defence and security, education, trade, investment, and culture. Both the sides decided to work together and enhance the maritime security.
